The problem with me is I cannot think straight. I was listening to Thiruppavai songs for the past few days and it struck to me why can't I come up with 30 film songs based on Thiruppavai ragas, in order to get a better view of ragas. And here is the list.

Natai - Iyangaru veetu alzaghe or Ennavle adi ennavale (though ennavale has lots of kedaram influence).
Golwa -- none I can think of now, but I don't think vedam nee iniya nadha just justice to this beautiful ragam.
Arabhi - Though Illayraja has a number of pieces, nothing that brings out the majesty of this raga come to mind... My fav would be the old "brindhavanamum nandhakumaranum" form missiamma. There is a beautiful Malayalam song in arabhi that I can't recollect now.
Varali - Lets skip it for now..
Sri - Ok I give up.. I can't think of any film song matching the beauty of a simple sri like "Vandhe vasudhevam"

ReplyDeleteNaatai - Iyengaru veetu azhage (Anniyan) , then an intersting song may be if you have heard or not - suppose unna kadhalichu , suppose ..that song I dont remember the name of the movie though .Then from M.Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi - Chennai Senthamizh
For malayamarutham - A beautiful composition by D.Imman - edhukkaga enna neeyum paartha from movie Rummy and another mind blowing piece by karthik Raja - Ragasiyamai ..Both are my fav

Namaskarams - just happen to browse through this forum. I like carnatic music and listen to instrumental music mostly. Film songs based on raga is interesting. I found the below Malayalam songs based on raga Arabi and Sree. Not sure if my observation is right. Please correct me if I am wrong.
